Would it be detrimental to go to college in a city I love rather than a better school?

I would really like to go to college in Chicago, but I don't think I'll quite have the stuff for Northwestern or the U of Chicago. So I am looking into DePaul and Loyola, and am intrigued by the continued respect Jesuit institutions receive. I could probably get into a school like Boston University or George Washington, which are more recognizable names, but would it be a bad idea to go to a DePaul or Loyola simply for the family I have in the city, my love of the city, and the fact that they are still good schools without quite as much name rec?
