Are there accounts I can deposit money into and not have any access?

I've had CDs before, and I know you can get money from them by paying a penalty fee. I'd like to open up some sort of savings in the near future. One for me, one for my daughter that may possibly accrue interest...and not be able to touch it for a period of time. Know of any?
