When to take a pregnancy test... please help.?

Hi, Ok, the situation is this. I last had my period 2 months ago- I’m on the pill so I ran two packs together because otherwise I would have come on on Christmas day. For the last couple of days I’ve been getting quite a few pregnancy symptoms but I don’t know if I’m just panicking or if I could be pregnant cause I’ve not missed a pill or anything like that (symptoms are- slight cramps but no bleeding, bigger and kinda sore, feeling sick and queasy and a blocked nose- read somewhere this was a symptom). All the symptoms can be explained away by a series of other reasons though! And I know if you think you’re pregnant you can kinda imagine the symptoms and think they’re real. I’m not asking if I’m pregnant, what I am asking is – If I am due on next Thursday would a home pregnancy test today, or tomorrow morning, be accurate? Or would I be better off waiting till after Thursday to see if I get my period? And if I am is it possible to still get your period only it be lighter? Just want to know if I am pregnant but want the information to be accurate.. Thanks.
