How many of you have heard your preacher damn your country in a sermon?

I thought it extremely crazy to hear Reverend Wright damning America in his sermon and was shocked to hear the crowd praising his words. I am a Southern Baptist and have also attended Methodist churches, Pentacostal churches and even Catholic church a time or two, and I can honestly say I have never heard any of those preachers/priests talk about anything but God's word and praying for our leaders and country. I have never been to a black church, but I have asked some of my friends, who are black, if their preachers ever preached about damning America and they said "no." But, their preachers have spoken about the "white man" trying to keep the "black man" down. I think we all need to look forward and work together, regardless of race. We are the melting pot, folks! I don't think there even needs to be a space to check your race on anything! We all need to be viewed equally and that means doing away with things of that nature.

How can I make myself stand out tomorrow?

I'm riding tomorrow and all the ponies that I ride are really slow and frisky and bite all the time which are about 14hh and theres one horse they put me on some times that way too big (about 17hh) and is so bumpy and I really struggle to stay on when I canter on him and my mum sees me ride every time and I'm not a nervous rider, I'm quite confident at it because I've ridden 7 years. My dad's coming to watch tomorrow too and I have to show him how much I've improved and that I'm not nervous at all anymore because I used to be kind of nervous because I fell off all the time and didn't like whipping them because the ponys that I ride buck when you whip them. But now I don't really care and the other week I whipped this pony that was going soooooooo slow and I needed to get her to go faster to get a good canter because we were jumping and she bucked her legs up soo high and I was 1 handed, and flew forwards but stayed on and just rode round like nothing ever happened and it resulted in my riding teacher having to tell me to slow down the slowest pony in the yard because I got her going so fast :) And I galloped along a beach in africa once. How can I make myself really confident at it tomorrow because if my dad sees how good I am with the ponies now my family's going to think about getting one in a few months... And we were hacking round the local village and there was a big horse infront of me that just kicked off every now and then and about 2 years ago I'd of been crying and shaking because I was scared that because the pony i ride was prone to bucking people off that Id get thrown but I just ignored it and pulled my pony away so she didnt get kicked and carried on riding. So for tomorrow I need to look really good. Please help. Thanks :)

Am I really such a bad person?

Hello, in order for you to understand my situation I have to give you a little background info. I am married to an indian man who is the only son (I am indian as well). In our culture there is no such thing as a retirement fund. Our parents take care of us when we are little and it is the son and daughter in laws responsiability to take care of them when they are old. My inlaws do not have a house of their own so when my husband and I got married we moved into an apartment because there just wasn't enough room for all of us. My husband and I are planning on buying a house and my husband feels like he needs to ask them to come stay with us. My husband and my father in law are always ing heads so I already know it will be a bad situation if we were to all move in together. We enjoy living on our own and having our own privacy but I was willing to give all that up to have them come live with us. A few days ago my FiL said some mean things about me to my husband and really just turned me off all together. He didn't say it to my face but I was just as hurt as if he did say it to my face. My husband told my FiL that he needs to apologize to him but he has yet to do so. I doubt he ever will. This isn't the first time he had said something bad about me. He has said some mean things to my family members about me. After all this my husband is insisting we let them live with us due to our customs. I told my husband that I would rather stay in an apartment for the rest of my life then buy a house and have them come stay with us. What do you think I should do? Should I buy and have them come stay with us? Or should I pay rent and not have to deal with my inlaws drama? P.S. I dont have a problem with my mother in law. She is nice just a little annoying at times.
